Who are the Bird Advocates? Are we a municipal emergency service that is obliged to respond as soon as we receive a message about an injured animal? Do we have large offices and a help center?
The answer is no.
We are a bunch of volunteers who work full time in addition to rehabilitating birds. We house the birds in our own homes. We receive no support from the public sector.
We have no more responsibility than anyone else in the street. We do this to help the birds, not to relieve people from their own duty to help. We have very few funds and large expenses.
We urge you; If you find an injured bird, take the bird with you. Injured city pigeons are easy to pick up and keep it in a box for a few hours. If you have a cat or a dog, just put the pigeon somewhere the other animals do not enter. Not helping an animal in need is in fact punishable.
Be the change you want to see in the world.
